Battery life on the M2 Max chips seems really bad, not sure if that's changed on M3. More often than not, it goes out in 3-4 hours on a completely normal workload. I could have the same workload on an M1 Air and it would last 8 hours...

M1 Max lasted me 8-10 hours but now after 2 years is 4-6hrs Haven’t tried M2/M3 Though I can imagine as the chips got more powerful there was a tradeoff made on battery. How much battery health does it say you have left? Am at 82%

Mine on M3 Max is great, can work the whole day. Your battery is either defective or worn out

I generally have the rule to never max out CPU on Laptops. Usually you gain negligible performance gains (because of thermal ceiling) but sacrifice an outsized amount of battery life. Particularly the M models the base CPU usually is plenty for a laptop.
