Just finished reading this and thoroughly enjoyed it. The ecological perspective is useful and apt. I just wonder whether there is a meaningful role for crypto in this quest to rewild the internet. 200 $degen

"Instead of tech firms extracting and selling people’s personal data, different payment models will fund the infrastructure we need. Right now, there is little explicit provision for public goods [...] essential to making the internet work." crypto could have a role here maybe? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah, crypto is inherently wild, given that its ethos is centred on its permissionless nature. Lots of predation/competition/exploitation/deceit within the space as a result—but maybe this is what is needed to create something durable and dynamic and which do not take away agency from users.

It could take awhile before the right people start to see value of doing that on a national level, but we're starting to see more countries developing their own digital currency. Its a starting point for sure (人 •͈ᴗ•͈) https://www.ecb.europa.eu/euro/digital_euro/html/index.en.html
