The Zora Mint Fee can now be earned by creators and developers. We've moved to an expansive fee model that means anyone building a platform that creates editions and find mints earns like Zora. one of the reward splits is mint referral. so i guess curators could take part in that "The mint referral reward is paid out to the party that referred the collector to mint an NFT."

here's the fee split for the new rewards program in the doc above i'm actually wondering how it works if it's a free mint for allowlisted addresses, but paid for public. does that just count as a paid mint @jacob ? 🤷🏻‍♀️

yeah i was in that convo yesterday. i have mixed feelings about the fee 🤷🏻‍♀️ like when i do a free mint, i'd prefer there to be no charge at all (except gas) but if i'm using some else's platform & contracts, they make the rules. or i could write my own contracts if i absolutely needed a totally free mint

FWIW, their free mints feel free to me.
