After this, it took 19 steps (clicks, taps, swipes, etc) to buy warps (with CB Wallet + Commerce being over half of them)

I think this is a major hurdle to creating cozy corners, because you need to be a power user to get through that flow ^

is there a way to petition for a channel? there's a channel that'd I'd love to run that is currently inactive (only 1 cast ever) but already exists

Agree with this. Also,  you can't willingly transfer ownership /admin of a Channel which causes more to be created.
