i'm listening to the lex x jared kushner podcast on the flight from chicago to tokyo and hmmm... some thoughts. firstly, idk if this is true for others, but the picture i was given was that this guy is an idiot and did nothing. reality seems opposite actually listening to him. for all the comic relief that trump and his policymakers make for the world, I'm not saying I'm on that side at alllllll but at the same time what we've had for the past 4 years has been total shit too. it's no wonder so many people wanted a change, it makes sense they wanted change.

1) i like to think of myself as a person who's very careful about letting msm paint pictures of people for me 2) i thoroughly dislike lex's podcasting style and personality (feels extremely fake) having said that, i felt like a truck ran over me when i listened to the podcast. i couldn't believe how extremely different my unconscious opinion of the guy was to how he really is / how he talks about himself (granted, there's a chance of foul play, but even if it was deceptive — the guy was really intelligent. and i felt like a fool believing otherwise.)

Well it was actually always the plan overall but it’s basically the crypto to AI pivot This taps on my overall principled objection to podcasts. When you read an essay, you go direct to the source, and you can live-curate, in the sense that it is easy a) to decide to stop reading a skip a paragraph, and b) to pick where to tune back in Part B is so hard on a podcast, because you can’t quickly read ahead to scan what comes next As a result, you delegate to the podcast host to live-curate for you: in the recording moment, they decide what Qs to ask, when to cut the person off, etc. This is difficult (I did lots of Culture3 pods!) This is my objection. I do not want to delegate this editorial responsibility to someone else, and explains why a good host is critical for a good podcast
