While I absolutely love the work I do, one major downside is I don’t really get any time to experiment anymore or even read up on what others are building. Trying to set aside and commit to a minimum of 2 hours a day for it. Any other advice on how to stay up-to-date?

I wrestled with this last year following a change in role and focus. No practical how-to advice (sorry), as see it more of a mindset shift. I am no longer fixing an acute problem or saving the day, I am defining a defensible strategy and ensuring a wider collection of commercial resources can come together around it

The output of which is measured on an annual / multi-year basis, which forces me to think longer term and set new priorities accordingly. If I stay true to these it becomes much easier to see the value in — and make time for — the all-to-easy-to-cancel connects with the right people, or personal time to read
