New UPS for our server will guarantee 30 minutes up time in case of an outage. This is more than enough time to safely turn off the servers safely to avoid corruption. One more step in the right direction for our home data center.

I was a data scientist at Deloitte Consulting btw and a manager in my early 20s. By the time I was 27 I had a team working for me and was the youngest in a group of about 150 people. Before I quit willingly on great terms in 2021 I had just been promoted to lead product strategy for all the U.S. human capital division.

Right now we have a rack of 4090s but before the end of year we will have a rack of A100s. Yay.

We are running inference on a protein model and when it completes in a couple days we will have huge implications for cancer research. I need to get better at marketing. What we are building I'm so fucking proud of and my stakeholders tell me we are one of maybe a 100 projects in the world running these types of models.

We are working on a solar power solution also tho. So eventually outages will become less of a concern all together. Really pushing the boundaries of what you can do with a home lab.

No idea tbh. I know they are not designed to be a battery more so just designed to allow the system to shut down safely in the event of an outage. My guess is maybe 20 minutes. I'll have to try and see if I can find out for you!

This was gonna be my suggestion! Recommend storing OS on SSD and everything else on nvmes if you have them. Using Proxmox or?

I really don't give our small team of two (me one of them) enough credit for our home lab. We have a Kubernetes cluster running with Argo and kubeflow with four GPUs connected to it. Not only did we build the hardware piece by piece the software architecture was put together with virtually little documentation to support us. I'm proud.
