friendly reminder that replies do matter thoughtful (not AI-generated) replies are how i built my community and friendships here early FC lore: for a long ling time, there was no quote cast, only recast and recasts were weighted less than replies because conversations are critical to building a social *network*

That’s interesting but annoying when you reply thoughtfully and don’t get a response. It’s a little disheartening when that happens.

I think we’ve all done it when things get overwhelming so please don’t apologise, I wasn’t fishing for that. It has been hard at times to connect with most OGs though. You guys have a pretty strong clique, understandably from being here so much earlier than the rest of us but those who came in a year ago have definitely made the effort.

thanks for sharing this feedback, really important for us to hear. i don’t have any immediate solutions, but will do my best to set a culture of embracing new users instead of sticking to existing groups or cliques. and will continue to think on this!

I completely identify with your statements. However, I must be honest, I have all but ceased engaging with social media since 2016. And this is when I saw the departure from what I observed as a more open discussion forum into herds of echo chambers. I honestly am not trying to point fingers. I completely understand it. But I often seek out contrary input. I only bring it up because I feel like it has become so normative that it seems inherent to the design these days. What I like to see a change. Yes. But, I don't work in front of computers. So my engagement will be extremely limited as to the ability to be part of that change. It is what it is, and will be what it will be. Whether it will be what we dread, or what we hope it to be, will hopefully be determined by what we put in it and not by that which we have engineered. Good luck. 36 $degen
