Apple isn’t doing layoffs by opting to cut its CEO’s pay instead. Tim Cook agreed to a 40% pay cut this year. Unheard of, but what if this was an option for everyday people, a pay cut instead of being laid off. Reorgs can have unforeseen adverse effects years later.

I have done this in the past during the last recession. Employees accepted 2-week furlough to avoid layoffs. Executive team also agreed to forego any bonuses.

Clarification ALL employees had to accept the furlough. A couple employees wouldn’t have been enough to offset what was needed.
