Apple isn’t doing layoffs by opting to cut its CEO’s pay instead. Tim Cook agreed to a 40% pay cut this year. Unheard of, but what if this was an option for everyday people, a pay cut instead of being laid off. Reorgs can have unforeseen adverse effects years later.

For clarity, they didn’t say they for sure will not do it. But so far, they’re the only faang that hasn’t done it. Apple hasn’t done layoffs since 1997.

I don’t think Tim’s salary is the reason they’re not doing layoffs

I have done this in the past during the last recession. Employees accepted 2-week furlough to avoid layoffs. Executive team also agreed to forego any bonuses.

Apple is good at hiring, they are also good at PR.
