It's not the recession, it's that a GP Laureato is in the sweet spot where it looks too much like a Royal Oak homage, but with a premium price tag. I just think the $10-30K price point for any watch that isn't precious metals is an extremely tough price point, and you *cannot* live and die on a style that is someone else's. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-09-04/swiss-watchmakers-including-girard-perregaux-seek-state-aid-amid-downturn

Agreed on the GP point, I never really looked much into the Laureato and I’m totally willing to assume it’s some sort of “original” design by Genta (I mean, every brand has some sort of story/excuse to play the Genta card). In the end it just looks too much RO, In wrong ways haha. I kinda do like some of their Bridges line… For UL I‘ve never ever found myself wanting one. I’m sure they have some nice history or whatever but just checking out their website for 15 seconds just now, it feels like I landed on some sort of high end Chinese ripoff manufacturer page. No real style of their own for some reason, except for the freak but that thing never got wide enough traction to float a brand.
