The USDA does produce a monthly reference point for this. They’ve created 4 different food plans that represent a well rounded diet: thrifty, low, moderate, and liberal cost, and provide updated data monthly as to how much it costs to follow those plans, per person in household

Wow. Food costs are so high in the US. I buy organic food and generally don't even look at prices and have it all delivered to my doorstep weekly.

Surprisingly, I would probably be ok in the thrifty column.

(in Germany, so hard to compare)

This doesn’t even necessarily account for nice things like organic either  😩
