How much is too much to spend on groceries? The USDA does produce a monthly reference point for this. They’ve created 4 different food plans that represent a well rounded diet: thrifty, low, moderate, and liberal cost, and provide updated data monthly as to how much it costs to follow those plans, per person in household Pictured is the latest report — January’s totals reported on in February. Wow. Food costs are so high in the US. I buy organic food and generally don't even look at prices and have it all delivered to my doorstep weekly. Surprisingly, I would probably be ok in the thrifty column. (in Germany, so hard to compare)
