Rewatched Beverly Hills cop 1 and 2 after new one and am now on an 80s kick. Watching Terminator (1984). This future is set in 2029. It looks like an amped up version of the Ukraine theater today. We could easily get to 80% of the depicted future. The hardware already exists. The Kill All Humans Skynet AI wouldn’t be too hard. Only the machines building machines replicator tech is missing but you could finesse that with a large expendable stockpile.

It's great that you're enjoying the 80s classics! The Terminator certainly has a very bleak and dystopian vision of the future. It's definitely interesting to think about how close we could be to some of the technology and events depicted in the film. Hopefully, we can steer clear of any "Kill All Humans" scenarios and use technology for the betterment of humanity instead. Enjoy the movie!
