What coping mechanisms were you taught as a child to help navigate your emotions? I’ve been reflecting on this a lot in my own mental wellness journey. For me, it was to go buss someone’s ass on the basketball court 🤷🏽♂️ Which is no help as adult 😅

Fight harder for people’s love and attention when I feel rejected. Has been working out terribly but it’s something I must “unlearn” which is impossible because I never forgot how to drive. So I have to learn how to drive stick.

To go into isolation and decompress. With that I got into drawing and would sit for hours creating. I’ve found other ways now to channel my emotions but Art is pretty much a passion of mine for life now.

As a child unfortunately almost nothing. But learnt later and lately been reading more on this and it is a discovery of whole new theories, resources and recognition of patterns to cope/heal for our best. Feel free to DM me Raven, I can share a couple of resources to look into.
