How many panini would I have to cook to make a $16,000 panini oven worth it? I can’t even fathom. I’ve never seen one of these in action.

This is the fancy model for idiots with too much money. The eco model goes for about 5k via a decent supplier, ~7k online. It has the same features and an overall better UX. Can attest, it's good for thousands of sandwiches and tbh there's nothing like it. (Get a used one for a few grand ~ better than new IMO since the break-in period is a few hundred cycles) For a home cook, you're looking at around 1,500 sandwiches to make up the difference between home cooked vs restraunt prices. At 3/week that's 10 years, which is probably less than half its lifespan if kept well. If you count calories, it's actually great because you can achieve a beautiful sear with very little fat (I used a light olive oil spray on the job), especially if you have a family or otherwise eat many sandwiches per week. Highly marketable in California FWIW. It's actually a good but if you do it smart.
