interesting point! I agree with that. another thing to point out is that "decentralized" is a spectrum, so to a large extent there will be degrees of "decentralized-ness" to a business, and maybe that's what you're pointing out?

I'd love to try and understand better what tokenized communities are defined as (help @jihad!) -- I admit I don't know where to put them in that diagram. feels to me the term is more generic than what I'm using here (ie could be applied for a few different areas at the same time)

gotcha - for fname it reads to me as no strong technical reason (and no enforcement intended), so I'd imagine it just simplifies UX/onboarding, and allows more control and revenue to stay in the protocol. Is that a good read? I'm still puzzled on why fids and not using wallet addresses directly as IDs, though!

would love to hear thoughts from @dwr.eth, @v and anyone who knows why farcaster chose to create their own name registry (vs ENS) and the benefit of having that fid vs just using wallet addresses directly?

I used to think building bridges to web2/trad-world was what crypto needed, but now I’m convinced that’s a lazy take. we should just build something so fucking incredibly great that all else will feel like 1,000 years old. what we need is to be bolder and more daring… not less.
