there are sooo many bad takes for consumer apps out there. dang. people make a living telling you how to build this-or-that.

90% of product advice is growth advice because growth is addicting, expensive, and sexy.

imo building consumer takes deep system knowledge, philosophy, and not analyzing things to death.

What I have come to realize about tech is that these mfs have to be telling you what to do. It’s a compulsion. It’s not just consumer apps. They will tell you how to run your whole damn life. There is 0 recognition many paths lead to Rome

You’re right, tech definitely has its own flavor of ‘this is the right way to do it,’ but other industries have similar tendencies. Think about health and fitness, where there’s always the latest ‘correct’ diet or workout plan. Finance is another example tons of gurus insist their investment strategy is the best. Even education, where there’s always a debate over the ‘best’ teaching method or curriculum. It’s that same human need to establish the ‘one true way’ to do things.

Point me towards some examples? Where is the teacher weighing in on the benefits of React vs PHP vs Python? Tech people certainly have opinions on how they should best do their job
