A short guide to accelerating neighbourhood development in less than 3 years: 1. Be unapologetic about your interests. In every channel, broadcast you curiosities consistently. If you don’t have an interest, adopt one and love it wholeheartedly. 2. Learn to be a good host, by practicing hosting: dinners, tea, picnics, games, sports, reading groups. Attend events to learn about how others host, help them host. 3. Create a central channel of communication (the group broadcast chat) with people who are curious about your interests, or whose interests are interesting to you. 4. Host more events, make sure to encourage others to have +1s and +2s to increase the density of weak ties between those with shared interests. 5. Stimulate trade and help between the network. Swap clothes, recipes, ask for tips on fixing things at home, move furniture together, ask for favors, and address requests. Bonus points if you give ideas to others “did you know Alice also has a tomato plant?” / cont.

Once the network has >50-100 people, then you can begin stimulating moves: 6. Aggregate listings of rentals and property sales 15min walking distance from whatever central location is best. For example, a Saturday market, popular transport station, leisure center, school, or park. 7. Curate the aggregation, join group chats of selected apartment buildings / housing groups of the network where possible. Try to get as close to “initial listing” as possible for the curated set. 8. Broadcast the initial listings to initial high-signal interest group. Pay attention to when rental contracts finish or life changes are upcoming. Match properties to the network participants. 9. As people begin moving to the same 15min walk radius, increase opportunities for serendipity by broadcasting key events. Try to have one event per week that 3-5 people have a chance encounter. 10. Make it a norm to invite people to dinner, increasing the depth of trust in the network.

This is great advice with comments that can be applied to all networking and or community goals. Thanks for reminding me to share my interest more. I needed that.
