I think one of my more radical takes is that the thiel fellowship didn’t go far enough and someone (thiel, andreesen etc) should just build a Silicon Valley enmeshed high prestige credentialing option for college aged kids.

I think the filter for thiel fellows may be appropriately exclusive given the nature of the program. 

But I think a Silicon Valley “native” program could provide an alternative to traditional 4 year secondary edu Eg Stanford and manage to solve the prestige-scaling problem.

he has talked about this. you can't maintain the status signal if you increase the batch size. it also opens up the surface area of attack since it is tied to personal brand. with a larger number of people, you have a higher risk of fraud & less screening. what if SBF was a Thiel fellow? it would blow up the program
