Is there any tv or audio system that will automatically keep volume at a static dB level? Can barely hear dialogue, turn up volume, next scene is like 10x louder. Not a fan of subtitles.

Is this actually a hard thing to solve? If so, why?

I've just been using subtitles whenever I watch stuff now.

it’s difficult because films/TV are mixed in 5.1, 7.1 or higher which means that there is a center channel where all dialogue is located in the mix. so when a consumer is listening on a much simpler system without a center speaker, it’s hard for that dialogue to be clear, intelligible, and anchored to the center.
