why do you think they did it now?

like if you had such a thing implanted, you wouldn't just do it at a random time right? 

you'd likely do it at a tactically critical point in time. what would that be?

1) Prelude to a war that throws them off balance (looking unlikely)

2) The vulnerability was about to be discovered so had to be used immediately

3) this was a counter to defuse a hezbollah operation that was happening at that same exact moment.

5) to distract from an intelligence failure / military fuckup elsewhere 

Israel has also been attempting to regain deterrence regionally, primary impact here to hez capabilities seems psychological not material (aside from reported civilian casualties)

Most Israeli military analysts I read don’t spend much time writing about hezbollah’s manpower, they talk about rockets & drones.

I’d be surprised if that was the primary or even secondary goal of this operation (personally)

I mean, who launches the rockets and controls the drones? it’s not a knockout but it’s a big blow in a longer conflict
