Feeling more “land grab” energy around channels lately

I understand the desire to *own* things but it’s kind of a vibe killer ngl

I just want to shitpost about different topics, not consider the economics of my content every time I cast

Hopefully just teething pains for a new primitive, like with frames

don't think very many channels are ripe for monetization yet. a few are, and a few hosts are thoughtful and smart enough to do it well

would bet we'll see a bunch of misses around decentralized channels, hosts doing too much when the bigger goal should be the same: more, better posts with more, better engagement

glad experimentation is happening and particularly interested in seeing how hypermod plays out, but in my gut I share these concerns

now that channels can make use of onchain primitives (incentives and programmable value), i expect to see greater competition for good casters

eg. if someone comes up with a better model than what i have here, they could vampire attack the top memelords…

But in my experience of social media vibes are extremely fickle, good content comes from many factors and a lot of them have nothing to do with monetization
