Feeling more “land grab” energy around channels lately I understand the desire to *own* things but it’s kind of a vibe killer ngl I just want to shitpost about different topics, not consider the economics of my content every time I cast Hopefully just teething pains for a new primitive, like with frames

Mmm yeah I feel you. That being said, it makes perfect sense for some channels that have a critical mass like /memes and /tabletop . It’s work to moderate these channels - it’s nice to have a revenue stream which pays moderators. If your channel is smaller tho, might be better to have a vanilla hypersub

You mean seeing being the curtain takes away the magic? People having sovereignty takes the fun out of it? Because legacy social media is entirely monetized as well. It's just abstracted away behind algorithms and ads, leaving users with nothing but enshrined reputation instead of actual value.
