It feels like the tipping mechanics are too PvP right now. We want your suggestions on making them more positive-sum. Banning users for bad behavior hasn’t worked, so how can we tweak the tipping mechanics to encourage positive interactions instead? Share your ideas! @cadillion

delegation: encourage people to apply for delegated tips with specific missions or values "support creators on DL3" "reward comedy on Warpcast" "tipping quality longform writing" boost tip allocations for people who delegate

Can you explain why no? It’d be helpful to get feedback and not just a reaction.

I can already see my feed being full of people shilling themselves and spamming replies to get themselves as many tip allowances as possible. Plus, I think this will just massively centralize tipping, which I would not be a fan of tbh. I don't want some people with high tip allowances to do all the tipping, why have a tip allowance then in the first place.

think you misunderstand the concept then, as this would distrbute tip allocate from people who have it, to people who have specific mission/values who would then further distribute those tips to people doing stuff mission/values aligned

I do understand the concept. I still see a TL filled with people shilling themselves (or their mission) to get as many tip allocs as possible. And how would the mechanics even be? What if the farmers just delegate to one of their accounts to tip the allowances out between their other accounts? Plus the centralization of tips issue still stands, imo.

how does delegation centralize tipping? we already have a timeline filled with people shilling themselves & their projects. in fact, the entire delegate application process could be handled off TL (not that I think it should be personally) but could just happen on an app tip allocation no longer comes from engagement, it comes from locking farming exists in the current system. delegation - based on reputation is arguably more anti-farm as people distributing delegated tip allocations would be responsible to their delegates. if they farm or do a bad job, people can pull their delegation

an argument against is the same criticisms for something like OP retropgf - selection of delegates is a popularity contest, not really about who allocates capital best - delegates with their now concentrated capital end up funneling to their friends - people seeking tips only need to appeal to a few, not many now

all good points, a few thoughts: - degen has always explicitly been a popularity contest (allocation based on engagement) at least with delegation, delegators have some say in the popularity contest and can change delegates if they think someone would be better at allocating tips - unlike at present, where anyone can freely do this, delegates are at some level in competition to allocate tips. can imagine dune dashboards evaluating delegates tips. we can even include some form of reward for allocating outside of your follow graph! - on the other hand, you don't need to be really popular to get a tipped meaningfully, you just need to be doing something that aligns with the mission/values of a delegate who has received allocation
