someone sends me a podcast

“you should really listen to this”
“no… i don’t do podcasts”
“just play it while you do things”

i press play and an hour goes by. the podcast stops and i wonder why it’s so quiet all of a sudden. haven’t listened to a single word despite it playing in the background.

the number of times i’ve had to go back a few minutes because i zoned out or started thinking of something else or insert any other thing that takes me attention away from it >>>>>>>>> 

takes me an hour or more to finish 15-20 min videos sometimes

that’s why i like reading. less words to flip back to

reading is worse for me. i’ll forget what i read 2 lines ago and i’ll have to restart. i consider it a miracle i have a masters degree with decent grades.

sometimes i go a full page or two thinking about something else but it’s much easier to recover and find that spot back
