In Japan, when a dish breaks, they don't throw it away, but based on an ancient belief and art they inherited from their ancestors, they repair the breaks in a special way. They glue the broken pieces together with gold powder. This traditional Japanese art is called golden binding or kintsugi.

39 $DEGEN Kintsugi, also known as kintsukuroi, is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with urushi lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. The method is similar to the maki-e technique.

According to this belief, after failure, they not only do not suffer from deficiency and weakness, but because of the knowledge and experience they have gained from this failure, they become much more valuable and beautiful like gold.

The reason for using sugi or kintsugi to repair broken dishes in Japan is related to cultural reasons, aesthetics and maintaining social value. This art is appreciated in Japanese culture as a symbol of tolerance, beauty and solidarity against time and decay.
