I enjoyed going through the Achilles/Tortoise sections linearly and skipping everything else until I finished that

Weird book, full of interesting ideas. Hofstadter here is taking a first jab at a much larger concept which is supposedly laid out in I Am a Strange Loop. I don’t understand precisely what he wanted to accomplish with this book, but the themes are cool and the puzzles are satisfying. Take long breaks if you need. I may have thumbed through some of the slower chapters.

Dropping into sections of chapters was my hack to find enjoyable moments; linearly was a non-starter

Might be worth it to skim through the modern interpretation while reading. https://arxiv.org/abs/0903.0340
