Having participated in dozens of (non-crypto) communities, my personal opinion is ethereum is about average, though definitely a lot better than other crypto. The area with a very large scope for improvement, is in "open discourse" of subjective matters. https://warpcast.com/vitalik.eth/0x7cb27023

i think where it’s lacking is the following: - discourse is too granular for all participants of the ecosystem to provide an opinion on (protocol people, onchainbuilders, onchain users). Perhaps we need reps from each side to talk it out on livestreams or something so a true community can form.

Yes! I felt we'd gotten too deep into ultrasound sound money theory and made some threads about it. And the response was: "Stick to technical content because it's harder to change people's philosophy." Which didn’t sound right. It was the same when I argued to admit problems with rollup scaling.

Also needs a better forum for this sort of discussion in the first place. We really have no effective forum in the ethereum universe.

Need to revisit a presentation I made at Ethcc in Paris in 2019 assessing the Ethereum Community across 20 variables. @vitalik.eth https://www.slideshare.net/wmougayar/challenges-in-growing-the-ethereum-ecosystem-as-a-community

Also worth adding that the tech people are probably more tolerable of open discourse than the finance people. Perhaps that comes from having to be intellectually honest/humble if you're building things (reality teaches humility?). This is based off my experience on CT, where most of the finance people are.
