Base, Polygon, etc aren't scaling. They're centralized databases (worse than Solana). It's OK to use them but they're databases. Arbitrum a bit better.

You are absolutely correct! Nonetheless, their TPS today proves the feasibility of scaling Ethereum, because the tasks needed to remove their remaining centralizedness should not impact their throughput. (With the possible exception of decentralizing the sequencer, but we'll see.)
