My hot take is there’s a greater than 50% chance that at some point in the next decade Microsoft abandons Xbox and just focuses on being a publisher. https://www.theverge.com/2024/2/12/24067370/microsoft-xbox-playstation-switch-games-future-hardware

The brand might survive via gamepass but once they announced previous exclusives headed to ps5 I put a 5 year (maybe 1 more release) limit on their hardware

Not until they've bought and ruined one hundred more promising studios.

I don't disagree, but also... this has been said for the last decade. At the very least a speculated sell off of the XBOX division

Super interesting move from Microsoft. Consoles in general just feel very Y2K in today’s gaming market to me. I own two consoles but can’t remember the last time I played on one vs a PC or iPhone

Not even a hot take, that's exactly what they are going to do. Why would I focus on hardware when I can just ship games for a monthly subscription? The xbox is basically just a PC anyways. Plus their cloud play is kind of nice.
