This assumes that the final 80% of the work is static, and that’s an incorrect assumption in most cases. The Pareto Principle is about finding the correct initial 20% effort to get 80% benefit. Then, you iterate and learn and probably do it all over again. Yeah, the definition of mvp is pretty fluid, I've seen it justify crappy products, but I've seen it just as often referred to as the vertical slice described above. Also, let's not even go into day one patches, cyberpunk 2077 no man's sky, and every other game that's shipped broken but was eventually redeemed.
