It’s a fun thing to think about tbh. Using the physical world instead of computers.

Love the aesthetics mixed with utility. Trying to think of other items that could conjure a portal into randomness …

Did I miss something in the article or are you saying it's misleading? The article makes it sound like this actually has practical impact same as the lava lamps.

Keep in mind that it's mostly a fun art piece :-)  

Even back in the long long ago when people first started joking about lava lamps for randomness, it was shown that a video feed of a blank white wall was exactly as entropic. Practically speaking, once you get your first 100 bits of entropy, the rest is just for fun.

I know a company in Nebraska that uses video of cows grazing in a pasture to generate randomness.
