Totally agree. I just disagree with the sentiment that you're a bad person if you work on LLMs.

I feel their frustration, having to shift dev resources from product to countermeasures must be super frustrating, especially over a sufficiently long amount of time

I like it. If you have the resources and you want to encourage following of the robots.txt and you don't want AI bots crawling your side, go to town with this imo.

Very possible. Even if it’s not and your dinky toy site gets blasted by AI crawlers. The solution is not to tell people to stop using AI. It’s to find a way to encourage respect of the robots.txt file. Because even the smallest site might WANT to be crawled

Maybe it’s a humblebrag and dealing with a new wave of LLM bots is the new product-market fit

I heard an interesting take recently about having AI LLMs defend against other AI LLMs. 🤖

I’m pretty sure it won’t immediately solve the situation in the article but might be something that can be effective later. 🧐
