We are entering post-truth/we are already there. Last little exchange is indicative of this

Truth is just what you want it to be from here on out

Maybe an advantage for those who can see reality clearly

To me post-truth is good because it forces me not to care about anything beyond my immediate locus of control. Why do I care about the “truth” beyond what I see with my eyes. I have no agency over any of this stuff anyways.

I think a lot of tech and more broadly a secular culture is deeply uncomfortable with uncertainty. This plus no agency in a post truth environment is why everyone is so fucking nuts. And then I’m nuts because I have to deal with all of them 😆

The uncertainty part feels important. 

It’s amazing how much of our culture is designed around having a plan on a spreadsheet or a resume

I really internalized this re: uncertainty when I got into an argument w/a friend about Hurricane Helene response. I told them “I don’t know what’s going on down there. I just don’t know” — and they got really upset I wouldn’t put a stake in the ground. “How can you live without knowing”
