To me post-truth is good because it forces me not to care about anything beyond my immediate locus of control. Why do I care about the “truth” beyond what I see with my eyes. I have no agency over any of this stuff anyways.

I think a lot of tech and more broadly a secular culture is deeply uncomfortable with uncertainty. This plus no agency in a post truth environment is why everyone is so fucking nuts. And then I’m nuts because I have to deal with all of them 😆

The uncertainty part feels important. It’s amazing how much of our culture is designed around having a plan on a spreadsheet or a resume

“What’s your five year plan” is a bog standard interview question!! I really internalized this re: uncertainty when I got into an argument w/a friend about Hurricane Helene response. I told them “I don’t know what’s going on down there. I just don’t know” — and they got really upset I wouldn’t put a stake in the ground. “How can you live without knowing”
