Oh, that's an interesting analysis (first post) → "trying to solve problems on top of technical foundations that just cannot support it" I bet it's a mess. I wonder what the state of play will be after Chris Lattner's Mojo's vision has time to play out - which aims to unify a bunch of the rube goldberg machines

Oh, that doesn't bode well! The decentralised (foundations models at the edges), OSS-iness feels like a critically important thing to have happen. As a dev I'm willing to wait and put my weight behind that when some center of gravity emerges. Jumping straight back into hub-spoke, cmd/ctrl APIs feels immature.
