Saturday Startup Stories (S3) is really becoming one of my favorite YouTube channels. Their production quality is really good and very informative for non technical people like me. 

Here is a new mini documentary about the Bell Lab. 

I was already familiar with Bell Lab in the context of telecommunications and electronics, but I didn't realize that they were so fundamental to the development of post war technology (vacuum tubes, radar, …). One could say, they were the Silicon Valley 1.0.
