How much of his career success do you think stems from deep musical talent, and how much was derived from hustling the music industry/community (aka blackmail etc)?  Is that starting to show up in the reporting?

The most credible person I see talk about this is his former bodyguard Gene Deal. They knew each other since they were young/ high school I think. Diddy is first and foremost a hustler and criminal, I believe. A musical talent maybe comes in like 5th place? Gene and others tell that many higher ups in the industry have the same bio line. Criminal, trafficker, abuser, hustler, business owner and THEN musical talent.

Schadenfreude is a strange emotion, eh?

And the schadenfreude around this Diddy thing is kind of pure because he was clearly such a criminal, cruel, despicable character...so it's not like taking joy in the fall of a great, but "good" man - this is a view into the amplification of perversions when an industry and money pump is trained on crime-adjacent artistry.

In any event, it's for me an interesting inner reflection - I don't want to look too closely, yet can't help "staring at the road kill".  One can only imagine the intense experiences of loss and existential doom Combs is having falling from the peaks of power and luxurious affectation on the backs of extorting others, to the cold reality of a concrete cell, surrounded by violence, no resources left to protect himself, and the sudden vacuum left by "friends" scampering away.
