Swiss' new first-class seats are so heavy that the center of gravity of the Airbus 330 is moved ahead of its forward limit, forcing the airline to install a counterweight aft of the aircraft. If you thought traveling first class was ecologically disastrous, imagine now flying a massively heavy steel plate around just to make it happen https://edition.cnn.com/2024/09/03/travel/swiss-airline-first-class-seats-too-heavy/index.html

Do those seats 💺ever get sold when they refit the planes? Id love to score some of the Marc Newson business class seats je designed for Qantas back in the day. Apparently a classic airline seat.

I don’t think so but I also imagine it would be impractical to have at home — it’s bulky, requires electricity to operate, can’t be easily repaired, isn’t even that comfortable (relative to a home recliner seat), and it would be pretty nasty after thousands of people sat on it over a few years!
