Great question — I'll speak from personal experience first before speculating on things beyond me. For me, one the biggest draws of Twitter back in the day was that it was a source of news obscura that would often be News in a few days; this almost oracle-like quality to Twitter is sometimes what I feel when I see prediction markets like Polymarket When X ceded the ability to be accurate and impartial, it certainly lost that luster and I (like many others) looked for alternatives like FC and Bluesky. However, I've never been able to have the level of retention I had for old X; the things I'm missing - Communities I want to 'observe' (e.g. academic fields I'm not in) - Communities I end up contributing to with longer form writing (e.g. fields I work in) - News But every time X is too debilitatingly PvP and nihilistic, it is insanely refreshing to come back here and see some optimism

I would say that one unique quality of Farcaster is it reminds me a little bit of the 2012 internet where thee was a little more humility, optimism, and courtesy; somehow, I think the nostalgia aspect has to be a big driver for people who are a bit tired of the constant political warring on Bluesky or X; I was never able to get into Bluesky because as soon as I got there I realized it was basically the militant others of X who were shutout using it as their grievance venue Hard to be optimistic about the world in those environments

What if people could mint NFTs for papers they’ve published in some non-trusted way. Would you put up bounties on any specific papers you enjoyed? Would be a cool way to people in the door
