It’s how often you’ll meet someone who seems cool and normal then discover they’re top 1% in their MLM or shilling some late-stage-burning-man spirituality cult.

Tbf though I don’t live downtown so I don’t have the same machete concerns as @keccers.eth

I seem to have a bad time with the homeless no matter where I go. Our office had an attempted break in. I was running from them a mile outside downtown on the East Side. I think more than where I live, it’s simply because I try to walk. 😬 

I also have noticed what you observe about the grift. It’s so depressing as someone trying to make new friends. It has given me insight anew on the phrase “you don’t have to be alone, to feel lonely”.
