Everybody's Fool by Richard Russo. I read nobody's fool many years ago and saw the third book in the series at the library so I decided to pick up the middle book in the trilogy. It's enjoyable 100 pages in.

I haven’t read Franzen either! Freedom’s cover is very familiar to me so it probably sat on my shelf for a while, lol. Any you’d recommend in particular?

Glad to hear it! I like Jonathan Franzen for similar reasons, though his novels stray more often from the mundane.
