noticed a lot of tourists struggling to convey their message because they can’t speak japanese instead of using google translate, they just say the same thing in their native language but louder. why???

I’ve never understood this at all. Google Translate is pretty good. I get a million brownie points for trying here!

the other day there was a dude who came into the pen store and spoke full english sentences with an accent like the white lotus mom then got frustrated when he wasn’t understood. people be living like tech doesn’t exist 😭

I once had someone I met online completely shut down on me Ina coffee shop and I finally pulled out of them, that they were really offended with the way I ordered coffee because they thought I was making fun of Japanese people with their accents when really I was just trying to order coffee pronouncing it the way the Japanese do. Some people are just idiots. It’s hard to avoid them.

lol so real, not everything is a south park episode. my japanese tutor even tells me if you really can’t remember the words and can’t translate then just try saying a japanese-sounding english version and chances are it’ll be right
