Last night on the State of the Union we chatted about expiring channels. So far, the best Dune dashboard to see this is the query below. Navigate to All Active Farcaster Channels and sort by date. Since channels have changed greatly this year and no longer give an algo boost over casting in your home feed, we chatted about the pros and cons of renewing channels. I have a personal channel with a Fan Token on the channel but I'm not sure if its worth renewing. Would love to know what others are thinking! https://dune.com/ilemi/farcaster-explorer

For me personally, I fully plan to keep and grow my channel. Im not to worried about an algo boost but rather a centralized location for the community to come together. As for personal channels, that may be a different story - probably not as worth it IMO but I dont have a personal channel.

I think it all depends on the objective of the creator of the channel because if what they wanted was to have a personal space for him regardless of success is fine but, those who created it to make themselves known and to publish on their channel and it was not as expected I think they will think "it will be worth it". Actually I had my favorite channels and they were very active but, since the recent changes they are not so active 🥺.

I think that if the channels have a reason for being and can provide value, it could be worth activating it, on the other hand, it is important to encourage the channels to be a community or a team rather to raise it, not only the host but also its members.

I like channels as a way of galvanizing a community. It's a place to rally and post memes and alpha, but in a searchable and public way, which gives an opportunity to attract new members. Posting to Home is also great, but makes communities, and their vibe, harder to find.

Great conversation last night and much food for thought. My channel is new and I'm thoughtful of how things may evolve. Also thoughtful of how tokens might create value for participants. I like the concept of a channel as a place where users can have a curated experience. It's the cozy corner mindset, but this isn't what I see in my channel. People aren't stopping; they are passing through. And I haven't figured how to increase the community feel, but I have a few ideas.
