Last night on the State of the Union we chatted about expiring channels. So far, the best Dune dashboard to see this is the query below. Navigate to All Active Farcaster Channels and sort by date. Since channels have changed greatly this year and no longer give an algo boost over casting in your home feed, we chatted about the pros and cons of renewing channels. I have a personal channel with a Fan Token on the channel but I'm not sure if its worth renewing. Would love to know what others are thinking!

@gt can anyone on the team provide insight?

We are looking at this from 2 angles. 

1) what happens if I let a channel I own expire?

2) what happens if I want a channel that’s pretty abandoned and about to expire? Can I register the channel name as soon as it isn’t renewed or is there a grace period of some sort?

No active plans on how to handle channel registration renewals at this time. We should have an answer for both of those soon!

Suggestion: When a channel expires and the channel owner does not renew it, the channel goes to the list of expired channels and is displayed in an auction system with a base price for building the channel. Anyone who wants to can participate in that auction, but the question is, what if no one wants to own the channel?
