I have always found lots of friends on Kauai, like when we were headed to the airport and found this turtle (maybe a slider?) trying to cross the street. On the mainland, the general rule is to put them across the road in the direction they were headed, but since these turtles don’t belong on Kauai at all, I believe it washed out of someone’s decorative pond during a week of crazy rain and flooding.

Now that is to bad I feel bad for the little guy. That’s how innocently a species can become invasive.

Yeah, I assume someone brought them in for a decorative pond (you do see some in the ponds on Oahu), but we had so much rain that week that everything was flooded, and I am guessing he washed out of wherever he was. 🤙🏼💙🐢
