My parents have a satirical poster hung up in the garage that says: “TEENAGERS: Tired of getting told what to do? Move out, get a job, and start paying the bills. Do it while you still know everything!” It’s funny because it’s true. There is a simplicity to life that degrades as you age. Things become less black and white and more.. complicated. People deal with this complexity differently. Some shut it out, simplifying life to just a few priorities. Others see rabbit holes everywhere, turning every random encounter into an opportunity for serendipity. It’s hard to find the middle way. To integrate frameworks without losing sight of the real thing.

my parents gave me and my brother this poster when i was a teenager. it wasn't to be demeaning, but in a fun way. it has been on their furnace with magnets for as long as i can remember. some people view it negatively, i've always looked at it as motivation
