Farcaster Rewards are great. If they can scale ~10-100x we will start to see people who can make a full-time living off of posting content on Warpcast, even if they have no other form of monetization. That's powerful.

Do you think this financially makes sense for Merkle? e.g. giving away $1k/week to the top 10 and $500/week to the top 30?

Depends how well they are able to monetize other parts of the business. To compete with other at-scale social platforms you need to pay creators a lot if you want the best content.

Yes, what would be the incentive for creators to create here, at that scale, if they’re already making ‘x’ on YouTube, substack, etc I think it’s more about Merkle cultivating Farcaster-native creator talent, so good that it attracts new users here. Trying to draw folks from where they’re already making money won’t be as sticky as the former. Twitter creators seem to be the lowest hanging fruit because it’s a similar format, but the scale just isn’t there. Maybe poaching Bluesky creators? Perception and knowledge of Farcaster is a massive hindrance, so much so education is required to incentivize anyone of that scale to dive into this, IMO.
