Amazon's policy change last week, removing offline backups, made it very clear to a lot of people why ebook ownership is important! I actually heard from authors we work with that their readers had told them they wanted to move away from Amazon after this change (even readers who hadn't heard of blockchain as a solution). Plus political shifts over the years have shown people on both sides of the aisle why fighting censorship is important, and this Amazon policy change might be paving the way for easier censorship. So as problems of digital media ownership become mainstream, people will need a solution. At Alexandria, we've been working for the past three years to build the infrastructure for truly ownable decentralized ebooks, and a beautiful user experience that really takes advantage of digital in a way that ebooks never have before. We've piloted publishers and authors on our platform to perfect the experience. Now it's time to bring on millions more books and readers!
