You've probably already heard that today Amazon is pulling the right to download ebooks. This makes it abundantly clear what has always been true: people don't own digital media on web2, and that's a problem. At Alexandria, we debuted ebook download today with our latest release, a collection of thrillers.

A bestselling thriller author onboarded over 200 people to web3 in less than a week. That’s 200 people who had never interacted with web3 before, now creating wallets and truly owning their digital libraries for the first time. @jakonrath did it by creating new onchain editions of his classic titles for his fans. He also shared with them why decentralized media means truly owning their e-books. Bringing great IP onchain onboards people.

These bad boys just arrived from Passenger, from one of their education lots. I am intrigued by the idea of an education lot and very excited to try this (from their description: “showcasing noteworthy plant genetics, unique microclimates, experimental processing approaches, or producing regions of historical significance”)

Alexandria now offers Apple Pay across browsers and native wallet apps. Thank you, @Crossmint! Now you can buy and truly own an ebook onchain by clicking one button. And, as always, use Alexandria’s Send-to-Kindle feature to instantly move your book from blockchain to your Kindle.

One of the most shocking things I've learned since getting into the business side of the publishing industry is that people DO read, including books, more than ever. Distribution channels and tried-and-true marketing techniques are shifting, but people reading has not changed

I just started reading Arrangements in Blue by Amy Key and if you like essays (and/or Joni Mitchell), WOW this one is beautiful. In just the two essays I've read so far I have been totally bowled over by how she talked about home, hope, and loss

did my first coffee cupping over the weekend and I HIGHLY recommend. I set it up at home to compare flavors of some different beans I have, and it was fun and really easy to do! https://fellowproducts.com/blogs/learn/a-step-by-step-guide-to-cupping-coffee

Today with my newfound posting power I am sharing what I’m currently brewing. The September branding is so beautiful! I accidentally bought a bean they recommend for espresso, but it’s roasted pretty light still and it tastes delicious as a pourover!

Last week we launched Hardcover Redeem: onchain confirmation of a physical collectible. Buy a book onchain and redeem for a matching signed physical copy, the only one that exists in the world. Alexandria builds ebooks that readers can truly own, which means their access is guaranteed (not by us as a platform, but by the technology). Now their access to the physical format is guaranteed too.

This week I built: /alexandria's NFT ebook release of the Konrath Dark Thriller Collective with author J.A. Konrath, who’s sold a few million books worldwide. It’s a retrospective of his thrillers, plus brand new afterwords to each one that basically sum up to his autobiography, and a new exclusive novella. 16 novels, hundreds of unique covers, original music. The compendium ebook is 1.7 million words long! We made this release, which included ebook download, on February 26, the same day Amazon stopped allowing Kindle ebook download. So far we’ve gotten great feedback from Joe’s fans who were not into web3 at ALL, and now so many of them are saying they totally get why NFT books and true decentralized ebook ownership is important. This is mass onboarding!! So grateful to @base for such smooth, fast transactions, with low gas that makes it possible for us to offer these ebooks at prices comparable to web2 ebooks. This is how we onboard and it’s really working!
