finally we have sunshine this is what happens when you don’t prune your roses - they are growing happily through the apple tree

Beautiful symbiotic relationship! Sometimes it's just very nice to let plants do their thing naturally. At our allotment society has rules on maintenance and overgrowth, so we tend to prune things regularly throughout the season to avoid getting the dreaded "notices". Love this picture, great example. 25 $DEGEN

also - it’s the biodynamic way to grow roses up apple trees so we planted them all next to each other and now they’re doing their own thing (didn’t prune them this winter)

Absolutely it's the way, especially if you have a rose that's a climber. Also it looks great, and they support each other. We don't have climbers at the allotment, but it's a beautiful mix! How do you manage harvesting apples with the rose thorns intermingling, btw?

Study leather gauntlets (or vegan counterpart). They're long gloves, very thick & good protection from thorns. I use something like this (stock image) often for pruning roses, raspberries/blackberries, etc.. The only downside is that you get a -10 DEX hit to your fine movement skills. 🎲🙀

Ooooh dang, I hear ya tho, the reduction in tactile movement can be difficult. Tho if you're just harvesting apples, I reckon it could be okay. I'd never try to sow seeds or do fine pruning with them on though! They're called gauntlets for a reason, hahaha! I hope you're gonna get that thorn out... ouchies! 😿
